- Transforming youth potential
Emmanuel’s passion for working with children and youths came in the year 2011 after his graduation at the YWAM (University of the Nations), Arusha base in Tanzania where he did a course in youths and children ministry. In the year 2012, Emmanuel volunteered at Childline Uganda, working as a life-skills trainer, motivator and educator in schools and community. It is at Childline Uganda that Emmanuel realized his calling to work with youths and children. Emmanuel was disturbed by the kind of life children and youths in Mityana lived and the everyday challenges they faced. In the month of May 2012, Emmanuel was awarded an Omprakash Foundation (USA) grant to continue with his project at Childline Uganda, Mityana. Emmanuel started two programs “Today for Tomorrow” and “YouthAction 256” targeting HIV+ children and Orphaned youths respectively. Mentored by Joana Sese (Chief operations officer,Omprakash Foundation USA), Emmanuel worked with over 80 HIV+ Children and orphaned youths, all from Mityana District, offering them life-skills empowerment/education and mentorship. In the year 2013, Emmanuel received a second Omprakash Foundation (USA) fellowship grant to help promote Omprakash Foundation in East Africa. Emmanuel gave Volunteer and community development talks in schools, colleges and in community forums. He also worked closely with some selected Omprakash Foundation partners as a partner mentor. Working as an Omprakash fellow, Emmanuel travelled to many countries, meeting young people in schools, motivating and inspiring them to be future global leaders. In the month of September 2013, Emmanuel left Uganda, after the completion of his project to start his own organization in Kenya. Before launching his project, he volunteered at Grace Heal School, working as youth mentor, life-skills trainer and fundraiser. At Grace Heal, worked closely with the students, and built relationship with the staff. In just one year, Emmanuel helped connect the school to sponsors in Croatia working under Plavi- Andeo. Through Plavi- Andeo, more than 30 students both in primary school and High school got sponsors from Croatia. Global Steps was officially launched in the year 2014 May.
